Obituary of John Beverly Alphin JOHN BEVERLY ALPHIN Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - May 24, 2002 John Beverly Alphin, 84, of the 28000 block of Walters Highway, died May 23, 2002. A native of Gates County, N.C., he was the son of the late Leonard Harrell Alphin and Edith Hill Alphin. He was predeceased by three brothers, Leonard Alphin, Marvin Alphin and Thomas Alphin; and two sisters, Edith Anderson and Alene Cox. He was a self-employed farmer and a member of Franklin Christian Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Norma Boyette Alphin; daughter and son-in-law, Renea A. and Earl Barrett Vann of Franklin; sons and daughters-in-law, John Stelle and Debby Alphin of Charlotte, N.C., George M. ''Monty'' and Ginny Alphin of Roanoke, Va., and Thomas Gary Alphin of Carrsville and William Beverly Alphin of Raleigh, N.C.; six grandchildren, Keith Vann, Melanie Vann, Britt Alphin, Emily Alphin, Caroline Alphin and Grey Alphin; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Antoinette Alphin and Troy Willis of Windsor, Va.; brothers, Robert and Juanita Alphin of Zuni, Va., and William and Mary Alphin of Culpeper, Va.; and 21 nieces and nephews. A graveside service of remembrance will be today at 6 p.m. at Windsor Cemetery with Dr. Ruffin Alphin and the Rev. Buzz Ballard officiating.
