Annie Applewhite Underwood, 90, devoted wife, mother and homemaker, died
March 18, 2004, in Suffolk. Born in Southampton County, she was a
daughter of the late Benjamin Randolph and Loulie Vaughan Applewhite and
widow of James Thomas Underwood. She was a member of High Street United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy L. Underwood of Suffolk and
several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, James
Thomas "Tommy" Underwood Jr.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Wright Funeral
Home with the Rev. Linda Alvis officiating. Burial will follow in
Riverside Cemetery , Courtland . The family will receive friends today
from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and suggests that memorials be
made to High Street United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 218, Franklin, VA
23851.
