Obituary of Clinton Babb CLINTON BABB Daily Press (Newport News, VA) - November 9, 2006 Clinton Babb, 88 died Nov. 6, 2006 at Courtland Healthcare Center. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of the late Oscar Barnes and Arlessie Gardner Babb and was the widower of Claudine Britt Babb. He was preceded by two wives, Mary Munford Babb and Gladys Babb. Mr. Babb was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and the Bruner Bible Class. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with Union Camp Corporation and owned his own lawn care service. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Drewry and husband, Elliott of Franklin and Connie Reitz and husband, Jack of Williamsburg; two sons, Oscar W. Babb and wife, Dinah and James C. Babb, all of Franklin and four grandchildren, Stephanie Babb, Mills Babb, Stephen Shepard and Angela Drewry. Mr. Babb was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Coggsdale; a brother, Oscar Barnes Babb and a granddaughter, Laura Drewry. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at Southampton Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. A. Richard Childress and the Rev. Sharon James officiating. The family will received friends following the service at the home of Oscar and Dinah Babb, 411 North High Street and suggested that memorials be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 N.
