Obituary of DAVID V. BABB The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, April 26, 1995 David V. "Speed" Babb, 67, of Ivor Road, died April 24, 1995, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Mr. Babb, a retired farmer, was a lifelong resident of Southampton County. He was the son of the late Henry David and Maie Vaughan Babb. He was a charter member of Courtland Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Courtland Ruritan Club. He was a life member of the Administrative Board of Courtland United Methodist Church and was widely known for his dedicated service to his church and community. He was the recipient of the church's Community Service Award in 1993. Survivors include one brother, Lewis S. Babb and his wife, Ruth of Courtland; another sister-in-law, Martha B. Babb of Roanoke; a brother-in-law, Joseph E. Pittman of Waverly; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Courtland United Methodist Church by the Rev. John N. Wimer Jr. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
