Obituary of Linda Sykes Lassiter Babb LINDA SYKES LASSITER BABB Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Saturday, June 14, 2003 COURTLAND - Linda Sykes Lassiter Babb, 54, died June 12, 2003 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born in Suffolk, she owned and operated the Beauty Bazaar in Courtland for over 30 years and was a creative seamstress. Linda and Jimmy enjoyed spending time together with friends at Manry Hunt Club and caring for their dogs. She was a lifelong member of Boykins Baptist Church, a 1967 graduate of Southampton High School and a graduate of Williams Beauty School of Richmond. Survivors include her husband, James "Jimmy" P. Babb; her mother, Inez Sykes Lassiter of Boykins; a stepson, Mark Babb of Courtland; a sister, Kay L. Joyner and her husband Clint of Smithfield, N.C.; a brother-in-law, H.F. Babb Jr. of Courtland; special friends, Jackie and Chunie Williams of Richmond; special "brother," John Moore Drewry of Courtland; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. Her father, Hassell Douglas Lassiter, predeceased her. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, with the Rev. Raymond Bunn officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel.
