SUFFOLK Louise B. Rodgers, 84, who resided in Suffolk for many years before moving to Salem, Va., died June 27, 2001 in Richfield Retirement Center, Salem.
A native of Southampton County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Hugh P. Beale and Berta Wellons Beale. She was predeceased by six brothers and sisters. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Suffolk Christian Church and a past volunteer with Obici Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley L. Rodgers Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, H. Beale and Janet K. Rodgers of Radford, Va.; a grandson, Shanon L. Rodgers of Christiansburg, Va.; step-grandchildren, Michael B. Cox Jr., Caroline Hickam and John M. Cox; step-great-grandchildren, Madeline Hickam, Liam Hickam, Mikavia Cox and Meagen Cox; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Rose Bussey of Salem, Va.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Michael D. Halley. Interment in Somerton Friends Meeting Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Suffolk Christian Church Building Fund, 216 N. Main St., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
