Obituary of Harry Lee Bain Jr. HARRY LEE BAIN JR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - March 15, 2003 CAPRON - Harry Lee Bain Jr., 81, went to be with the Lord on March 14, 2003 at Pinopolis. A lifelong resident of Capron and Southampton County, he was the son of the late Susie Grant and Harry Lee Bain Sr. Mr Bain was a 1942 graduate of Randolph-Macon College and was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa national honorary fraternity and Phi Kappa Sigma social fraternity. During World War II he served as a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps in the China-Burma-India Theatre. After the war ended he earned a master's degree in animal husbandry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. From 1949 to 1975, Mr. Bain worked with his father at L.J. Bain & Son in Capron, managing family farms. He served on the Board of Directors of Sovran Bank and was a member of Capron Ruritan Club. A hunting and wildlife enthusiast, he was a lifetime member of the Indian Town Hunt Club. He was a faithful member of the Capron United Methodist Church where he served as teacher and Sunday School superintendent for many years. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Ann Ridley Bain; a daughter, Harriet Bain Duck and her husband Richard of Franklin; three sons, C. Ridley Bain and his wife Sharon of Lawrenceville, W. Pond Bain and Thomas H. Bain and his wife Carol all of Capron; two sisters, Frances Bain Heiner and her husband Chick and Sarah Bain Day all of Richmond; 12 grandchildren, Penn, Libby, Bennett, David, Kyle, Jamie, Lee, Andy and Scott Bain, Bain Ford and Rachel and Morgan Manning; and many beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Capron United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. H. Randolph Arrington and the Rev. Beth-Marie R. Barnett officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, 206 W. 4th Ave., Franklin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Capron Rescue Squad, P.O.
