Doris was born in Bolton, N.C., a daughter of the late Curtis Wilson and Dorothy Ezzell Best and was the wife of A.H. ''Andy'' Baines. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Franklin and a retired peanut inspector for Hancock Peanut Co. Surviving in addition to her husband of Courtland are two daughters, Rebecca B. Twine and her husband, Michael, of Franklin and Peggy Futrell of Graham, N.C.; two sons, Melvin C. Brown and his wife, Sherry, of Bolton, N.C., and Larry W. Baines and his wife, Zeny, of Millinton, Tenn.; two sisters, Louise Gordon of Charleston, S.C., and Annette Davis of California; two brothers, Louis C. Best of Suffolk and Ervin C. Best of Lanexa; and 10 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Retha Mae Messervy and two brothers, Harry Best and Curtis W. Best Jr. A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Wright Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Cypress Chapel Cemetery in Suffolk. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this evening in the funeral home.
