CATHERINE "KITTY" MAE BAINES ARCHER

Catherine Baines "Kitty" Archer, 79, of the 400 block of North Broad St., died July 20, 1997, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital.
  A native of Suffolk, she retired as a cafeteria manager in the Suffolk school system after 15 years' service. She was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church, where she attended Progressive Bible Class, and was a Sunday school teacher and mission leader. She was president of King's Fork Women's Club, secretary, past worthy matron, 50-year member of Sinai Chapter (NU)18 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Christian Women's Club and the Louise Obici Auxiliary. She was the daughter of the late Jasper E. Baines Sr. and Alice Vaughan Baines.
  Survivors include her husband, R.H. Archer; a daughter, Catherine A. Alexander of Mechanicsville, Va.; a son, Robert H. Archer Jr. of Suffolk; two sisters, Evelyn B. Miles of Little Rock, Ark., and Faye B. Barrett of Wakefield, Va.; three grandsons, Rett Alexander, Vaughan Alexander and Ryan Alexander, all of Mechanicsville, Va.
  A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Western Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. David Jendrey and the Rev. Duncan Schirmer. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the residence. Contributions may be made to the Western Branch Baptist Church, 6952 Old Myrtle Road, Suffolk, Va. 23436. Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
