Obituary of Kenneth A. Barnard KENNETH A BANARD Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - March 5, 2006 FRANKLIN - Kenneth A. Barnard, 93, of the Village at Woods Edge, departed this life March 3, 2006. Born in Michigan Dec. 28, 1912, he was employed at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Ill., until 1978 when he and his wife moved to Cherokee Village, Ark. They moved to Franklin in 1998. He was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Queenie Barnard and his sister, Lucy Galloway of Ionia, Mich. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mildred; one daughter, Ardyce Ilene and her husband Robert Koenig of Franklin; two granddaughters, Diane and her husband Peter Morgan of Cary, N.C., and Joan and her husband Brett Woodie of Georgetown, Ky.; four great-grandchildren, Heather and Brad Woodie and Ashten and Erin Morgan; two brothers, Robert Barnard of Wyoming, Mich., and Dale Barnard of Philadelphia; three sisters, Rachel Zimmer of Portland, Mich., Lola Whitley of Fyffe, Ala., and Ruth Ann Summers of Vermontville, Mich. A private burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Poplar Spring Cemetery . A public memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at the Village of Woods Edge by the Rev. Todd Higginson, Franklin Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Franklin Baptist Church or Village at Woods Edge Endowment Fund, 1401 N. High St., Franklin, VA 23851. The family will receive friends at the Holland-Rideout Funeral Home, 1001 Armory Drive, from 3 to 5 p.m. today.
