Obituary of MAMIE KIRBY BARNES The Roanoke Times, VA, August 25, 1991 Mamie Kirby Barnes, 70, of 914 Maryland Ave., Suffolk, died Friday, in Obici Hospital, Suffolk. She was a native of Roanoke, and a member of Main St. Suffolk United Methodist Church. She was a life member of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs and a member of Cypress Cove Country Club in Franklin and a member of Suffolk Women's Golf Association. Mrs. Barnes was the former wife of the late Robert E. Kirby, Jr. She is survived by her husband, J. B. Barnes, Jr.; one daughter, Patricia K. Percy of Statesville, N. C.; one son, Robert E. Kirby, III of Romney, W.Va.; two stepdaughters, Kay Goldberg of Chesapeake; and Kathy Knack of Norfolk; two sisters, Bettie Cassell and Maude Poole, both of Roanoke; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Main Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. James Noland. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery, Franklin. The family requests memorial donations be made to Main St. United Methodist Church or Obici Oncology Unit. R. W.
