Obituary of EDITH MAY GOODRICH BARRETT The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, December 31, 1996 Edith May Goodrich Barrett, 77, died Dec. 30, 1996, in Autumn Care of Suffolk. Mrs. Barrett was a native of Southampton County and was the daughter of the late John Waverly and Mable Joyner Goodrich. She was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Haywood Owen Barrett; three daughters, Joyce B. Taylor of Eure, N.C., Joan B. Sobotor of Falling Waters, W.Va., Glenda Tomlin of Franklin; two sons, William Tyrone Barrett and Troy E. Barrett of Zuni; four sisters, Charlotte G. Carden of Grandy, N.C., Mable Joyner Johnson and Agnes Goodrich of Wakefield, Margaret G. Doss of Newsoms; two brothers, Carlton Goodrich of Florida and Herbert Goodrich of Tennessee; her stepmother, Violet Goodrich; a half-brother, Ronnie Goodrich; three stepbrothers, Fred, Tom, Jim Butler; a stepsister, Esther Wood; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Black Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Wayne Underwood, Howard Vinson and Ted Woosley. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Wright Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Black Creek Baptist Church, 34163 Vicksville Road, Franklin, Va. 23851.
