IVOR - Joseph Mayton Branch, 76, died Dec. 27, 2002, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was a native of Southampton County and was one of six children of the late Fenton and Hattie Raiford Branch. Mr. Branch was a retired welder, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Corinth Friends Meeting. 

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Sarah M. Branch; a son, Mayton Branch of Windsor; a sister, Katherine Beale of Black Creek; and two granddaughters. 

A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Corinth Friends Meeting with Pastors Ken and Pat Thames officiating. Burial will follow in Ivor Cemetery . Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Howard James Barrett, 89, died Monday, April 16, 2001 in Halifax Regional Medical Center.

A native of Seaboard, N.C., he was the son of the late Joseph and Ada Wheeler Barrett and the widower of Madeline Draper Barrett. He was the former president of Barrett-Ford Oils and a member of Boykins United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Charles Meakin of Greensboro, N.C.; a sister, Irma Odom of Conway, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Abby Meakin of Greensboro.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday [18 April 2001] in Boykins United Methodist Church with the Rev. Raymond McGarr officiating. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today [17 April 2001] at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, and suggests that memorials be made to Boykins United Methodist Church, General Fund, Boykins, VA 23827.
