Ruby Virginia Denson Barrett, 84, of 209 West First Ave., died Nov. 20, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. 

Mrs. Barrett was a native of Sussex County and was the daughter of the late Ely E. and Annie Barrett Denson. She was the widow of Richard Washington Denson Sr. She was a Baptist. 

Survivors include one daughter, Iris Juanita Kiernan; five sons, Richard W. Barrett Jr., Enous L. Barrett, Vernon C. Barrett, Douglas M. Barrett, all of Franklin and Glenn F. Barrett of Branchville; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. 

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. William Hawkins. The burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and suggest that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Ruth Petty, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin, Va. 23851.
