Obituary of Lawson Derby Beale LAWSON DERBY BEALE Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - February 28, 2001 Lawson Derby Beale, 88, died Feb. 27, 2001, at Greensville Memorial Hospital. He was born in Southampton County April 25, 1912, a son of the late Franklin Aubry and Dixie Derby Beale; and was the widower of Jessie Edwards Beale. He was a longtime Branchville resident, a member of Branchville Baptist Church, and a retired farmer. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Anne B. Lynch and husband, James, of Ebony, Va.; three sons, G. Durwood Beale of Branchville, Franklin Edward Beale of Tulsa, Okla., and Melvin D. Beale of Newport Beach, Calif.; a sister, Mildred B. Turner of Colonial Heights; seven grandchildren, Henry and David Robertson, Vanessa Godwin, Paula Cosenza, Bridgette, Donnis, and Emily Beale; two great-grandchildren, Patrick and Adam Godwin. He was predeceased by two children, Shirley Jean Robertson and Lawson D. Beale Jr. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Wright Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, by the Rev. Thomas Caukins and the Rev. Bob Hauck. Burial will follow in Beechwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
