Obituary of Ocie Lawrence Beale OCIE LAWRENCE BEALE Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Sunday, December 16, 2001 Ocie Lawrence Beale, 80, died Dec. 14, 2001, at Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin. Born in Southampton County, he was a son of the late Livius Hyden Beale and Dora Carr B. Blythe, and was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. An Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater, he was a charter member of the Black Creek Ruritan Club. He was a longtime carpenter with J.R. Wills & Sons Construction Co., Suffolk, and retired from the Southampton County School Board. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Bernice Clark Beale; three daughters, Paige B. Boyette and husband, Ricky, Sylvia B. Gray and husband, Randy, all of Franklin, and Connie B. Alphin of Culpeper, Va.; a son, Lawrence C. Beale and wife, Sue of Franklin; two sisters, Edith Senter of Virginia Beach, Minnie Blythe of Franklin; a brother, Fenton Blythe of Richmond; four grandchildren, Melissa G. Nelson and husband, Mark, Jason A. Gray, Megan and Miles Beale; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Willis Switzer and the Rev. Larry Cribb. Burial with military honors will follow in Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
