Obituary of Milton Leroy Beatty MILTON LEROY BEATTY Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, August 12, 2004 Milton Leroy "Corky" Beatty, 74, died Aug. 11, 2004, at his home. Mr. Beatty was a native of Hopewell and was a son of the late Allen D. and Effie Harrison Beatty. He was a former employee of Whiteway Foods and Johnson Foods and was a retired manager for Allen Management Inc., of Hampton. He was a member of Boykins Baptist Church, an Army veteran of the Korean War, member and past master of Boykins Masonic Lodge and was a charter member of the Boykins Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Bert M. Beatty; a daughter, Tammy M. Britt, her husband Martin and children, Nicole and Mason of Hunterdale; two sons, J.M. Beatty and wife Ruby of Charlottesville and Mickey L. Beatty of Dallas, Texas; four sisters, Phyllis Chase of Hampton, Peggy Boothe of Williamsburg, Mary Frances Pierce of Newport News and Virginia Lee West of Bangor, Maine; a brother, Daniel W. Beatty of Murfreesboro, N.C.; three other grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Corky was predeceased by four brothers, Robert, Leon, Mac and William Beatty; and one sister, Martha Jeanette Beatty. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Boykins Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Bunn and the Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery , Courtland . The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests that memorials be made to the Boykins Volunteer Fire and Rescue or Boykins Baptist Church.
