Obituary of FREDERICK WINSTON BECK The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - December 3, 1993 Fred Beck of Craigsville, Va., and Royal Oak, Mich., died Monday, Nov. 29, 1993, following an extended illness. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, April 16, 1902, the son of John and Theresa Beck. He was married to Lina Felts Beck, a former resident of Boykins, who is the daughter of the late John B. Felts of Boykins. He was formerly president of Anode Nickel Corp. of Detroit and a commercial real estate broker. He was an accomplished breeder of horses and cattle. He owned farms in Greenville County and Mount Alta Farm in Augusta County, raising peanuts in Greenville County and cattle in Augusta and was active until a recent accident forced him into retirement. He had been a resident of Oak Hill Nursing Home for the past several months. He was a member of Detroit Lodge AF & AM #2, a 35-year member of Moslem Temple AAONAS, a member of Royal Arch Lodge #93, and Royal Arch Monroe Chapter 1 in Detroit. He was also a member of Detroit Elks Lodge #34 of St. Clair, Mich. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Gwendolyn B. Cody of Annandale; a sister, Maye Maroit of Wuclid, Ohio; two grandchildren and a great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service with Masonic Rites will be held at 1 p.m. today in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
