A native of Suffolk, she was a daughter of the late James Leroy and Maude Godwin Bell. Miss Bell was an active member of West End Baptist Church and the Riverview Garden Club. She was a 1943 graduate of Suffolk High School and graduated from Mary Washington College with a degree in chemistry. Survivors include a sister, Frances B. Butt of Lynchburg; a brother and his wife, Jack H. and Constance Bell of Morehead City, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Caroline C. Bell of Smithfield; nieces; nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in West End Baptist Church by the Rev. T. Floyd Irby Jr. and the Rev. H. Vance Mann III. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
