Mrs. Bell was a lifelong resident of Southampton County and was the widow of T.B. "Boisie" Bell, former sheriff of Southampton County. Mrs. Bell was an active member of the Courtland United Methodist Church where she was church historian, choir member and former organist. She was a long-time member of Order of the Eastern Star and she was a former correspondent for The Tidewater News for over 40 years. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. G.T. "Katherine" Martin; her son-in-law, Tom Martin, both of Radford; her sister, Arleen W. Gardner of Courtland; three grandchildren, G.T. Martin Jr. of Richmond, Ann M. Martin of Roanoke and James B. Martin of Newport News. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Courtland United Methodist Church by the Rev. Thomas G. Lee. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may join the family at Wright Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight. Memorial donations may be made to the Courtland United Methodist Church.
