Obituary of JESSIE WILLIE BENSON The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, April 5, 1996 Jessie Willie Benson, 85, of 28723 Walters Highway, died April 4, 1996, in his home. He was born in Johnson County, N.C., and was the son of the late Ida and Jessie R. Benson. Mr. Benson was a retired self-employed mechanic and car salesman. He was a member of the Church of God. The family rejoices in the fact that he has gone to be with the Lord. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Clara Mae Cutchins Benson; eight daughters, Beatrice B. Ross and husband, Ralph, Dorothy B. Vaughan, Shirley B. Ferguson and husband, Pat, all of Franklin, Carolyn B. Murphy and husband, Kenneth, Willie B. Williams and Jane B. Babb, all of Suffolk, Betty B. Raiford and husband, Merriel of Carrsville and Lake Gaston, Pearl B. Whitehead of Windsor; a son, Jessie W. Benson Jr. and wife, Donnie of Carrsville; sister, Virginia B. Gibson of Newsoms; 29 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, his first born, Jessie James Benson. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of God, Highway 58 East, Franklin, by the Rev. Rob Taylor and the Rev. Earnest Cary. Burial will be in Southampton Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday and following the funeral at the home of Bea and Ralph Ross, 301 Crescent Drive, Franklin.
