Mildred Alma Blythe Carter, 72, died Dec. 21, 1999, at her home.
Born in Southampton County, Mrs. Carter was a daughter of the late Mary Coggsdale Spivey Duck and Johnnie Spivey. She was a member of South Quay Baptist Church and a retired care giver. Mrs. Carter was predeceased by her first husband, D.C. ``Wilson'' Blythe.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Blythe Willman of Suffolk and Betty Blythe Darden of Franklin; a son, Robert Earl ``Buddy'' Blythe of Franklin; a sister, Barbara Spivey Walker of Roanoke Rapids; six grandchildren, Angela Cornwell Jeffries, Johnny Cornwell, Amy Blythe Salyers, Kimberly Kay Blythe, Kelley Anne Willman and Bernie Willman; and four great-grandchildren, Betty Ann Jeffries, John Daniel Cornwell, Erika Davis and Justin Turner.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at South Quay Baptist Church by the Rev. Louis Venable. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the church and other times at the residence, 27077 Dogwood Bend Road, Franklin. Memorials may be made to South Quay Baptist Church, 9617 South Quay Road, Suffolk, VA 23437. Wright Funeral Home is in charge.
