William L. Blythe, 73, of Route 1, died Jan. 24, 1991, in a Suffolk hospital. 

Mr. Blythe, a native of Holland, had retired from Union Camp Corp. and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. 

Survivors include his wife, Louvenia Byrd Blythe; two daughters, Shelby B. Coggsdale of Courtland and Carolyn B. Thornton of Midlothian; two sons, William Blythe Jr. of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Larry G. Blythe of Carrsville; four sisters, Essie B. Holland, Carie B. Saunders, Otelia B. Felton and Mary B. Burrows, all of Suffolk; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Holland-Rideout Funeral Home, by the Rev. Richard Peerey and the Rev. Gary Powell. Burial will be in Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
