Boyd, Jr., 91, of Raleigh, died Sunday morning, November 23, 2003 at the Stewart Health Center at Springmoor. He was born in Portsmouth, VA on May 3, 1912, the son of Henry E. Boyd, Sr. and Virginia Ethel Bryant Boyd. From 1960 until his retirement in 1979, Mr. Boyd served as the manager and then director of Raleigh Durham Airport. He was a founder of both the Southeastern Airport Manager's Association and the American Association of Airport Executives. Mr. Boyd served in the North Carolina National Guard and the United States Navy. He was an active member of the Raleigh Kiwanis Club and the Amran Temple Shrine Club, where he was recognized for his extensive work on behalf of the Shrine Burn hospitals. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Jean Meharry Boyd of Raleigh; two daughters, Janet Boyd Reed of Greenbelt, MD and Nancy Jean Boyd of Hyattsville, MD; and two grandchildren, Katharine Boyd Reed and Justin Boyd Reed. The family will receive friends at the Brown-Wynne funeral home at 300 Saint Mary's Street, Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2003, at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, the Reverend Art Ross officiating.
