Obituary of Shirley Turner Bradshaw SHIRLEY TURNER BRADSHAW Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, August 18, 2000 Shirley Turner Bradshaw, 82, known for her dedication to family, church and community, died Aug. 16, 2000, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, June and Dr. Paul Old, in Moyock, N.C. Born Dec. 29, 1917, in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Lizzie Griffin Turner. A member of Black Creek Baptist Church, she served by teaching an intermediate Sunday School class and was a faithful R.A. leader for many years. She lived by her motto, ``There is a lot of good in everybody if you look for it.'' Her church and community will remember her dedication in visiting shut-ins and spending a great deal of time with the elderly. For many years she was superintendent of the home extension board, now the Homebound Department, and worked with them as long as she was able. She was a member of the T.E.L. Class and WMU Society. She was a member of the High Street Senior Citizens, SMH Hospital Auxiliary, and the YMCA. Her aim was, ``To learn something new everyday and to love her Lord Jesus Christ.'' She was loved by her all who knew her. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Willie August Bradshaw; two daughters, LaVerne B. Lee of Franklin, June B. Old and her husband, Paul, of Moyock, N.C.; a son, Jerry L. Bradshaw and his wife, Julia, of Sedley; a sister, Ferne T. Kitchen of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Jon, Jason and Michael Lee, Sarah and Forrest Paul Old, Matthew and Justin Bradshaw; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Suretta Babb and Jane Babb. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Black Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Willis Switzer and the Rev. Wayne Underwood officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jerry and Julia Bradshaw, 31423 Unity Road, Sedley.
