Erma Bradshaw Beaton, 93, of the 400 block of Elizabeth St., died May 2, 1998, at Nansemond Pointe Health Care Center. 
Born in Southampton County, Va., she was retired from the housekeeping department of Obici Hospital. She was the widow of Stafford M. Beaton, to whom she was married for 54 years. Mrs. Beaton had been a member of First Baptist Church of Suffolk since 1947. 
Survivors include her daughter, Edith B. Simms of Sedley, Va.; two sons, Marshall A. Beaton Sr. of Suffolk and George Milton Beaton Sr. of Virginia Beach; a sister, Hattie B. Holland of Holland, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, Laura Ellen Pond; father, Thomas Henry Bradshaw; a son, Willard E. Beaton Sr.; two brothers, Linwood E. Bradshaw and Herbert O. Bradshaw; and a grandson, John W. Nelms III. 
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles W. Thompson. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 3 to 4 p.m. today and at other times at the residence at 421 Elizabeth St. The family requests memorials to be made to Memorial Fund First Baptist Church, 237 N. Main St., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
