Obituary of LOUISE BAINES BRIGGS Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - January 25, 1996 Louise Baines Briggs, of the Village at Woods Edge, died Jan. 23, 1996, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk and daughter of the late William J. and Sarah Holland Baines. Mrs. Briggs had retired as office manager of the former BBH Motor Company. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church where she was a primary department Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. She is survived by her husband, James Floyd Briggs Sr.; a son, James F. Briggs Jr. and his wife, Mary Winston Briggs; two granddaughters, Nancy B. Petters and Elizabeth A. Briggs; two great-granddaughters, Sarah W. Petters and Caroline G. Petters. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk, by the Rev. Roy DeBrand, Rev. Sharon James and the Rev. Dr. Ira Hudgins. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Briggs Jr., 131 Crescent Drive today. Memorial donations may be made to the Briggs Family Trust of the Franklin Baptist Church Endowment Fund. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
