Mary Brinkley Horton, 73, went to be with the Lord Aug. 13, 2001. 
Born Sept. 25, 1927, in Suffolk, she was the daughter of the late Carlton W. and May Belle Horton Brinkley. Mrs. Horton was a member of Great Fork Baptist Church, the Ruth Bible Class and the Keenagers Club of the church. 
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Elliott Robertson Horton; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary H. and Gene Harvell of Williamsburg, Robin H. and Jerry Forbus of Chesapeake, Carla H. and Fielding Cage III of Lexington; grandchildren, Jarratt and Sarah Harvell, Jessica and Zachary Forbus, Fields Cage; sister, Mataline B. Savage of Sunbury, N.C.; brothers, Ryland Brinkley and Thomas Brinkley, both of Suffolk; and many nieces and nephews. 
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Great Fork Baptist Church Church by the Rev. Jonathan Judy and the Rev. Cameron Currin with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to Great Fork Baptist Church, 180 Great Fork Road, Suffolk, VA 23438.
