Obituary of Walter Junius Britt WALTER JUNIUS BRITT Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, February 18, 1999 Walter Junius Britt, 76, died Feb. 17, 1999, in Chesapeake General Hospital. Born in Ivor, he was a lifelong resident of Southampton County and lived the past 45 years in the house he built in ``Skunk Hollow'' in Courtland . Mr. Britt retired from Union Camp Corp. after 39 years in the power plant department and was a Navy veteran of World War II. A member of Courtland Baptist Church, he was a former counselor for the RA Boys Youth Group and past choir member. He was a past member of the Courtland Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Susy Whitley Britt; three sons, Gerald W. Britt of Gloucester, Paul F. Britt of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and David K. Britt of Boykins; three sisters, Leah Atkinson, Bernice Goodrich and Joyce Turner; and two brothers, Narvie Britt and Dempsie Britt, all of Ivor. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter G. Britt and Minnie Ruth Bailey Britt and a brother, Gurnie Britt. A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Riverside Cemetery by the Rev. Thomas R. Speight. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Hampton Roads Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 20 Koger Center, Suite 233, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
