Mr. Bryant was a native of Northampton County, N.C., the son of the late Charlie R. and Mary M. Bryant. He was a member of Boykins United Methodist Church and Woodmen of the World and was a retired farmer and truck driver. He was the husband of the late Nita Barnes Bryant, father of the late Irvin W. Bryant Jr. and grandfather of the late Patsy B. Story. He is survived by his daughter, Jean B. Mathis of Sutherland; two sons, William J. Bryant of Chesapeake and John W. Bryant of Boykins; a sister, Blanche B. Davis of Conway, N.C.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a devoted friend, Ruby M. Orton of Dinwiddie County. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 31, in Beechwood Cemetery. Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, is handling arrangements.
