Bryant NEWSOMS - James Thomas Bryant, 73, died June 23, 2001.< A lifelong native of Southampton County, he was one of 11 children of the late Johnnie Sterling and Sallie Temple Edwards Bryant. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a POW for 28 months. Mr. Bryant was a retired farmer and a member of Barnes United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Hannah Hunt Rose Bryant; two daughters, Elizabeth Temple Bryant of Greenville, N.C., and Brenda Louise Bryant and her fiance, Dr. Geoffrey Rackoff of Concord, N.C.; two brothers, Leslie P. Bryant of Newsoms and Raymond D. Bryant of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Charles Langley officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery , Newsoms . The family will receive friends at the residence.
