Born in Southampton County, he was a son of the late Millard Roland and Susie Bradshaw Bryant. He was a Navy and Merchant Marine veteran of World War II and was retired from the electrical department of the City of Norfolk. He was a member of the United Hunt Club and the S&S Hunt Club. Survivors include his wife, Sue Cook Bryant; a daughter, Terri B. Joyner and husband Bill of Virginia Beach; a son, Alan Bryant of Chesapeake; three sisters, Adelle B. Collier of Courtland, Alyce B. Kitchen and Joyce B. Spivey, both of Franklin; a brother, Joe Bynum Bryant of Franklin; four grandchildren, Alli and Emili Bryant, Christopher and Samantha Joyner. He was predeceased by two brothers, Gilbert P. Bryant and Millard R. Bryant Jr. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Lamar Sentell. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery , Newsoms . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home and suggests that memorials be made to a favorite charity.
