Mr. Bryant was a native and lifelong resident of Southampton County. He was the son of the late M.R. and Fannie Williams Bryant and was a 1936 graduate of Courtland High School. He had retired from farming and was a charter member of the Manry Hunt Club. He was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Doris Morris Bryant; one daughter, Carol B. Biggers, and one son, Mills Robert "Robbie" Bryant III, both of Richmond; one sister, Mary B. Johnson of Burlington, N.C.; six brothers, G. Russell Bryant of Courtland, Wesley T. Bryant of Hampton, Allen G. Bryant of Portsmouth, William R. Bryant of Fort Pierce, Fla., H. Lloyd Bryant of Columbia, S.C., and Melvin Bryant of Barhamsville, Va.; and three grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, by the Rev. John Wimer. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and suggest that memorial donations be made to Courtland United Methodist Church.
