Louise Bryant Porter, 82, a lifelong resident of Newsoms , died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, in Franklin. 

She was the widow of Benjamin Franklin ``Doll'' Porter and is survived by two daughters, Joyce P. Vick and her husband, Carroll N. Vick, of Franklin and Linda P. Pulley and her husband, Herbert A. Pulley, of Virginia Beach; a son, Norman E. Porter and his wife, Edna Ree Porter, of Newsoms ; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. 

Born on Sept. 19, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Jessie J. and Sadie Rountree Bryant. She was an active member of Newsoms United Methodist Church for many years and a member of the Women's Bible Class and the United Methodist Women of the Church. She was also a member of the Golden Age Club. 

The Rev. Charles Langley and the Rev. Kenneth Williams will conduct a funeral service in Newsoms United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery , Newsoms . The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund of Newsoms United Methodist Church, P.O. 235, Newsoms , Va. 23874.
