BURROUGHS Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - September 27, 2001 Sutton Alfred Burroughs, 86, of the 3500 block of Sleepy Hole Road, died Sept. 25, 2001, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. A native of Williamston, N.C., he was a retired farmer and a member of Windsor Christian Church. Mr. Burroughs was a retired master sergeant of 22 years of service with the U.S. Army Air Corps which later became the U.S. Air Force. He was a veteran of World War II and also served 10 years of civil service. He was the son of the late William Alfred Burroughs and Annie Mary Williams Burroughs. He was also predeceased by two brothers, C.B. and Bill Burroughs. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Rosa Lee Pittman Burroughs of Suffolk; daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie B. Riley of Windsor, Va., Jinky B. and Rudy Field of Richmond, Va., Peggy B. and Steve Shifflett of Charlottesville, Va., Faye B. and Richard Harris of Suffolk and Tanya B. Pope of Windsor, Va.; grandchildren, Greg, Jason, Chris and Cynde; great-grandchildren, Paul, Leanne, Emily and Nicholas; a sister, Thelma B. Peele of Norfolk; brothers, Polk Burroughs of Rocky Mount, N.C., Hoston Burroughs of New Bern, N.C. and Bunk Burroughs of Edenton, N.C. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Windsor Christian Church by the Rev. Basil ``Buzz'' Ballard with burial in Windsor Cemetery .
