Obituary of William Lester Butler WILLIAM LESTER BUTLER Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - January 17, 2002 William Lester Butler, 71, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2002 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born in Southampton County, he was a son of the late Samuel O. Butler Sr. and Eulalah Minton Butler. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired bookkeeper in the accounting department of Union Camp after 40 years of service. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and recently served five years as president of the Senior Citizen Group. Survivors include two brothers, Samuel O. Butler Jr. and Marvin M. Butler and wife, Edna, all of Franklin; nephew, Ronald Butler and wife, Bonnie of Suffolk; a great-nephew, Kendall Butler; and a special cousin, Jean H. Drewry of Franklin. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Beaver Dam Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Richard Peerey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Samuel O. Butler Jr., 413 Crescent Drive, Franklin, Va. Memorials may be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 3593 Carrsville Highway, Franklin, VA 23851.
