Blanche O. Byrd Babb, 78, of the 1100 block of Myrtle St., died April 8, 2003 at her residence. Born June 5, 1924 in Suffolk, she was the daughter of the late Javie A. Byrd and Lucy Ophelia Wyatt Byrd. She was a member of Cypress Chapel Christian Church and the Women of the Suffolk Moose Lodge Chapter No. 1315. She was a homemaker. 
She was predeceased by her daughter, Louise B. Capps; two sons-in-law, Chester M. Capps and Melvin R. Warren; a brother, Javie Ann Byrd Jr. and two sisters, Edna B. Babb and Carrie B. Holland. 
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, George Louis Babb; daughter, Linda B. Warren of Suffolk; grandchildren and wives, Mark L. and Jennifer Capps of Franklin, William "Clark" and Michelle Capps of Suffolk, Keith and Amy Warren of Virginia Beach and Michael and Michele Warren of Gatesville, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Erin and Sarah Capps, Tyler Capps and Dillon Warren; and a sister, Hilda B. Brinkley of Suffolk. 
A funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of the Harrell & Hill Funeral Home by Dr. John R. Kimball. Burial will be in Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to Cypress Chapel Christian Church Building Fund, 1891 Cypress Chapel Road, Suffolk, VA 23434.
