Obituary of John Putman Carr Jr. JOHN PUTNAM CARR JR Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - August 11, 2004 John Putman "J.P." Carr Jr., 86, a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County, died Aug. 10, 2004. He was a son of the late John Putman and Effie Turner Carr and a longtime Isle of Wight County farmer. J.P. was a member of Colosse Baptist Church and the Adult Bible Class, a charter member of the Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Carrsville Ruritan Club and the Woodman of the World. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Edna C. Carr; his daughter, Nancy C. Harcum of Holland; daughter-in-law, Debra "Sissy" Carr of Carrsville; four grandchildren, Barry Harcum and his wife Lori of Suffolk, Denise H. Walters and her husband Seba of Holland, Sherry C. Minga and Chris Carr, both of Carrsville; five great-grandchildren, W.N. Minga, Devin Walters, Ashley Minga, Ben Harcum and Logan Walters; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Carr was predeceased by his son, John Nelson Carr and son-in-law, George Edward Harcum. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Tim Webb officiating. Burial will be in Colosse Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence and at the Fellowship Hall of Colosse Baptist Church, 6361 Rhodes Drive, Windsor, VA 23487, following the funeral.
