Obituary of Jessie Barham Bell Carroll JESSIE BARHAM BELL CARROLL Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - November 2, 2002 SMITHFIELD - Jessie Barham Bell Carroll, 59, of Mill Swamp Road, died Nov. 1, 2002, in Louise Obici Hospital. She was a native of Surry County and a deputy clerk of the Civil Court for the City of Newport News. Mrs. Carroll was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Surry. Her parents, Margaret Virginia Jones and Jesse Batten Bell and a brother, Hudson L. Bell, preceded Mrs. Carroll in death. Survivors include her husband, James M. "Jimmy" Carroll Jr.; two sons, J. Brian Carroll and wife Kristy and Bruce Carroll and wife Dawn, all of Smithfield; a grandson, James M. "Jamie" Carroll III; sister, Barbara B. Hux and husband David of Poquoson; special aunt, Evelyn Berryman of Surry; sister-in-law, Marie Bell of Augusta, Ga.; three nephews, David Alan Hux, Donald Wayne Hux and Hudson L. Bell Jr.; and a niece, Barbara Renee' Bell. A funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Smithfield, by Dr. Donald R. Rhoton. Burial will follow in Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence, 8615 Mill Swamp Road.
