Mrs. Carroll was born in Portsmouth, Va. She was the widow of Bernard N . Carroll .

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Fletcher Lee Carroll Conway of Pittsford, Vt.; two sons, Howard L. Callis of Suffolk, Va., and Robert Willard Callis of Chesapeake, Va.; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk, Va., by Pastor Jim Wall. Friends may join the family from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Hill Funeral Home, Suffolk.
