Obituary of Lewis Owen Cathey LEWIS OWEN CATHEY Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, December 16, 2005 SUFFOLK - Lewis Owen Cathey, 82, died Dec. 15, 2005, at Westminster-Canterbury in Virginia Beach. Owen was born in Norfolk, but lived most of his life in Suffolk before retiring at Westminster-Canterbury. He was the son of the late Lewis H. Cathey and Audrey C. Cathey, grandson of the late Alonzo F. Cathey and Annie H. Cathey and S. Owen Cocks and Lottie B. Cocks. He was a member of the Suffolk Christian Church. He was well informed about most sports and enjoyed popular music. He was a member of the Suffolk Sports Club and received the "Member of the Year" in 1984. For more than 30 years, he was employed by Suffolk Coca-Cola Bottling Works. Survivors are a sister, Lola Mary C. Farless of Virginia Beach; brother, Forrest H. Cathey and his wife Mary Jane Cathey of Suffolk; five nieces and their husbands, Patricia C. and Craig Linville of Kernersville, N.C., Donna C. and Charles R. Henderson Jr. of Suffolk, Barbara C. and William W. Hannah of Suffolk, Karen F. and Robert Meador of Virginia Beach and Deborah F. and Bruce Piatek of Ormond Beach; and nephew, Glenn Farless of Maryland. A funeral will be conducted Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the Suffolk Christian Church, 216 N. Main St., by the Rev. Michael D. Halley with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery, 1500 block of North Main St. Visitation will be at the church from 2 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Friends and family may also visit in the home of Owen's brother, Forrest H. Cathey, 620 W. Riverview Drive, Suffolk.
