Mrs. Chappell was the wife of the late Edgar Raye Chappell and the daughter of the late Thomas B. and Mary Rawles Holland. She was retired as a head paper tester with Union Camp after 28 years of service and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Mrs. Chappell is survived by a daughter, Brenda C. Spivey, and her husband, Willie; a son, J.R. Chappell, and his wife, Ann, all of Suffolk; two sisters, Evelyn Holland of Suffolk and Myrtie Mae Barnhill of Lusby, Md.; a brother, Kenneth R. Holland of Morningside, Md.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Doug Gibson. Burial will be at Poplar Spring Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad or a favorite charity.
