Obituary of Herman Cobb HERMAN COBB Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - January 1, 2006 FRANKLIN - Herman Cobb, 84, longtime Southampton County farmer, died Dec. 30, 2005, at Obici Hospital. Mr. Cobb, widower of Marjorie Blythe "Pete" Cobb, was a son of the late Tony Roy Cobb Sr. and Willie Anne Blythe Cobb. Herman was a Navy veteran of World War II, a charter member of the Hunterdale Ruritan Club and a member of Hunterdale United Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Joan Cobb Shields and husband R.E. "Butch" Shields Jr. and Nita Carol Cobb; one son, Anthony "Amp" Cobb and wife Beth, all of Franklin; five sisters, Ruth C. Babb, Edith C. Simmons, both of Courtland, Dorothy C. Kitchen, Gracie C. Foster and Jerline C. Lankford, all of Franklin; one brother, Melton Cobb of Franklin; six grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica, Joanna and Jason Cobb and Adam and Katie Shields. Mr. Cobb was predeceased by a sister, Audrey Cobb and three brothers, Tony "Buck" Cobb Jr., Shelton "Sheck" Cobb and JG Cobb. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Hunterdale United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dietmar Plajer officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery .
