Thelma Whitley Cobb, 78, of Edwards Street in Franklin, died Dec. 13, 1992, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. 

Mrs. Cobb was born in Como, N.C., and was the widow of Gardner Elliott Cobb. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. 

Survivors include one daughter, Ann Cobb Brown of Shallotte, N.C.; two sons, G. Elliott Cobb Jr. of Franklin and Col. William P. Cobb of Scott Air Force Base, O'Fallon, Ill.; one sister, Sara Whitley Hill and one brother, H.W. "Pete" Whitley, both of Murfreesboro, N.C.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, in Poplar Spring Cemetery by Dr. Ira D. Hudgins and the Rev. Ben R. Duffey. Memorial donations may be made to Franklin Baptist Church, Franklin, Va. 23851. Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Friends may join the family at 913 Clay St.
