Born on Sept. 11, 1920 in Isle of Wight County he was the son of the late William Alfred Cobb and Indiana Barrett Cobb. He was a retired general contractor, a member of the Ivor Baptist Church, a member of the Ivor Hunt Club, was past Master of Ivor Masonic Lodge No. 291, AF&AM, and was a charter member of the Ivor Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, European Theatre. He is survived by his wife, Edith Council Cobb; a son, Warren R. ''Mate'' Cobb Jr. and wife, Frances of Ivor; a grandson, Paul Warren Cobb and fiancee Krissy Nelson of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two brothers, John Cobb of Zuni and Russell Cobb of Suffolk; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Raby Cobb. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield, with the Rev. Steve Bradshaw and the Rev. Steven R. Gupton officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will be in Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Zuni. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Ivor Volunteer Fire Dept. or Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad.
