Mrs. Coggins was a native of Nansemond County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Coggins. She was a graduate of Elon College and a former elementary school teacher in Nansemond County. Mrs. Coggins also was a member of Suffolk Christian Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mina Anne Piedmont of Carolina Beach, N.C., and Bonnie McCrary of Suffolk; a beloved niece, Betty Layden; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Michael D. Halley. The family will receive friends at R.W. Baker & Co.
