JOSIE LEE COGSDALE TAYLOR

Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - March 29, 1998 

Josie Lee Cogsdale Taylor, 78, died March 27, 1998, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. 

Mrs. Taylor was a native of Southampton County, a daughter of the late Lee and Clarice Miles Cogsdale and was the wife of 56 years of Lloyd D. Taylor. She was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church, where she was a leader in many church activities for more than 50 years. 

She was a 1940 graduate of Longwood College and taught school in Southampton County for 10 years. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Southampton County School Board for 12 years and was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association. She was a member of the Southampton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a pink lady volunteer for 20 years. 

Besides her husband, she is survived by four daughters, June G. and Martha L. Taylor, both of Virginia Beach, Suzanne Carroll and her husband, Steve, of Gates, N.C., and Betty Jo Taylor of Charlottesville, Va.; a son, L. David Taylor Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Newsoms ; two sisters, Letitia Crumpler of Franklin and Jackie Arrington of Courtland; twin brothers, James E. Cogsdale of Newsoms and Thomas N. Cogsdale of Sedley; five grandchildren, Cullen Bryant and his wife, Snoa' of Greensboro, N.C., Louie Saunders and Briana Brennan of Charlottesville, Miles and Mallory Taylor of Newsoms . She was predeceased by a sister, Mable C. Ellis. 

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Newsoms Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenneth Williams with burial in Hollywood Cemetery . The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, at 7 p.m. today and suggests memorial donations may be made to The Lupus Foundation of America, 281 Independence Blvd., Virginia Beach, Va. 23462, or the Newsoms Baptist Church.
