Obituary of HILDRED WHITEHEAD COLE The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, January 28, 1994 Mrs. Hildred Whitehead Cole, 80, of 23325 Southampton Parkway, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 1994, in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. Mrs. Cole was a lifelong resident of Southampton County and was the daughter of the late Jordan W. and Bettie Rowe Whitehead. She was the widow of Robert Wallace Cole. Mrs. Cole was retired from the Walter Cecil Rawls Library and Museum in Courtland, and was a 56-year member and longtime treasurer of Vincent's Grove United Methodist Church, Courtland. Survivors include one son: William W. Cole of Williamsburg; 3 sisters, Evelyn W. Whitehead, Doris W. Applewhite, and Elizabeth O. Whitehead, all of Sebrell; 2 brothers: H. Bradford Whitehead and Homer R. Whitehead, both of Courtland; 1 niece: Mildred J. Slaughter of Norfolk; and several other nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 1994, in the Courtland United Methodist Church by the Rev. Louis Martin. The burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland.
