Obituary of Elizabeth Taylor Cook ELIZABETH TAYLOR COOK Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - August 21, 2003 Elizabeth Taylor Cook, 80, died Aug. 19, 2003 at her residence. A native of Gates County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Hersey T. and Bessie T. Taylor and the widow of Johnnie Perry Cook. She was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church and a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include four daughters, Marian C. Gray and husband, Kenneth of Smithfield, Carolyn C. Shannonhouse and husband, David of Cary, N.C., Vickie C. O'Berry and husband, Jimmie of Franklin and Deborah C. Ashburn and husband, Robert of Suffolk; a sister-in-law, Norene U. Taylor of Gates County, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Kevin and Craig Gray, Alison Shannonhouse, Shannon and Holly O'Berry, Wade and Brian Ashburn; and three great-grandsons, Hunter, David and Mitchell Gray. Mrs. Cook was predeceased by a brother, Millard Taylor. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Curtis Faison officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to Newsoms Baptist Church, P.O. Box 312, Newsoms , VA 23874, or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Ruth Petty, 114 Southampton Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
