Obituary of THOMAS REDELLE COTTON Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - February 3, 1996 Thomas Redelle Cotton, 65, of 29155 Smiths Ferry Road, died Feb. 2, 1996, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Mr. Cotton was a native of Southampton County and was the son of the late Vernard P. and Annie Laurie Darden Cotton. He had retired as a supervisor of the Maintenance Department of Union Camp Corp. after 41 years with the company. He had retired from the National Guard after 22 years of service. Mr. Cotton was a lifelong member of Sycamore Baptist Church where he served as assistant secretary of the Sunday school and secretary-treasurer of the Mens Sunday school class for many years. Mr. Cotton is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Wade Cotton; his children, Teressa and Karl Beier of Franklin, Nell and Charlie Daughtrey and Dell and Claudia Cotton of Suffolk; a sister, Caroline C. Brook of Carrsville; a brother, Preston D. Cotton of Franklin; five grandchildren, Jeremy Daughtrey, Kristopher and Gigi Beier, Anna and Wade Cotton. He was predeceased by a grandson, Jonathan Wade Daughtrey. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sycamore Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Reginald Warren. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence and suggests memorials be made to the Gifts and Memorials Committee of Sycamore Baptist Church, 32018 Sycamore Church Road, Franklin, Va. 23851.
